Adders boss Grainger blasts his squad for showing complacency
ADDERS boss Mark Grainger has accused his side of complacency after a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Ellesmere on Saturday.
The Adders went into the game in good form, having picked up three wins from four, but they crashed back down to earth with a bump.
Grainger said: "The performance wasn't acceptable and I just felt it all boiled down to complacency.
"We lost our shape and the lads didn't play to instruction. They didn't do their jobs properly.
"Sometimes you can get away with one or two lads having off days but only David Boal, Ben Ashby, George Washburne and our keeper Paul Hathaway came out of the game with any credit.
"We got what we deserved in terms of the result and I told the players as much in the dressing room.
"I certainly didn't pull any punches with regards to my feelings about the performance.
"There's no room for complacency in my eyes. Some of the lads were too cocky, thinking that they just had to turn up.
"Hopefully they will use this result as a kick up the backside.
"They have been texting me all week apologising for their performances but I want them to show me they have learned from that when we play again.
"At the end of the day, we are not in a position to be complacent.
"Every game is a cup final as far as I am concerned because we need to be moving up this table and making sure we are in a comfortable place."
The Adders are due to host Rocester on Saturday but the weather could intervene what with freezing temperatures expected this weekend.
