THE magic of the much-loved ballet, The Nutcracker, is sure to delight classic theatre fans when it arrives at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre this week.

From tonight (Thursday, November 17), delight your eyes as talented young artistes from the State Ballet Academy of Minsk bring Tchaikovsky's perennial favourite to life.

As part of a UK tour taking in 35 venues, the ballet presented by Amande Concerts plays in Lichfield until Saturday.

Based on the story The Nutcracker and the King of Mice by ETA Hoffman, the story follows the adventures of a young girl, Marie, who is given a Nutcracker doll for Christmas.

Marie enters a dreamlike land, discovers her Nutcracker is a prince... and the magical adventure has only just begun.

To be captivated by a cast of 45 young dancers and a classical score which includes melodies such as The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, there is still time to buy tickets and enjoying an enchanting performance filled with Christmas wonder.

Performances take place at 7.30pm between November 17 and November 19, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Tickets are priced from £17 (£10.50 for students).
