MUSICIANS from Amington Band have continued to excel in national competitions after gaining third place in their section of the National Mineworker Competition at Butlins in Skegness.

The band also won the Challenge Trophy as best mining band in their section.

Band spokesman Bob Godfrey said: "This win continued a fantastic run of results for the band who have now been placed in the first three at their last 11 contests.

"Their next challenge is the area competition of the National Brass Band Competition in March at Bedworth."

The band is also soon set to star as the Grimley Colliery Band in the Lichfield production of Brassed Off at The Garrick Theatre, from April 13 to 17.

Mr Godfrey added: "We urge all our supporters to come to see and support us in this exiting event."
