ATHERSTONE Town boss Dale Belford has warned his side against complacency as they prepare to entertain bottom club Aylesbury on Saturday.

The Ducks have picked up just 11 points from 30 games in Zamaretto Southern Midlands One but claimed a 1-0 victory over Bromsgrove Rovers on Saturday.

Belford said: "Regardless of who we are playing – top or bottom – our philosophy will not change.

"We want to win the game but we won't be taking Aylesbury for granted. They beat Bromsgrove last weekend and have picked up of late.

"It will be a tough game for us."

Belford, however, believes that approaching the game in the right manner will stand his side in good stead.

And he admitted he continues to be impressed by his young squad after they claimed a 1-1 draw at Sudbury.

"I thought our performance was the best since I came back to the club," said Belford.

"I think it shows how far the lads have come since I arrived that they were disappointed to only draw the game.

"They are starting to look very well organised and are showing me their passion and commitment. They are contesting every ball and every area of the pitch.

"I may be going over old ground but I have to say again, they are doing me proud.

"You sometimes forget how young they are. It was brought home to me on the way to Sudbury when we stopped off at a service station.

"Quite a few of the lads tried to go into the amusement arcade there but were not allowed because they are only 16 or 17!

"They are fledglings in the early stages of their football careers, with aspirations of going higher, and they are doing a great job."

Belford, meanwhile, admitted he is loving the challenge of managing the Adders despite their financial restraints.

He said: "Sudbury was the most enjoyable yet because you had two teams who played football the right way.

"I think if we are to attract more people to Atherstone we have to put on a show week in, week out.

"We need to educate the players to play football on the ground, although you do need to roll your sleeves up as well.

"Things have gone great so far. I am learning as a manager and the players are too.

"I was brought in to get the points on the board to secure safety, while the club steadied the ship financially.

"We are working hard to ensure the club is debt free and on an even keel and then the board need to decide next season what they intend to do from a budget point of view."

Chris Milner, meanwhile, has returned to Sutton Coldfield Town after picking up an ankle injury.

On-loan Aston Villa youngster Dan Bradley is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a fracture to his ankle.

"I feel for the kid because he has been a revelation for us since he arrived," Belford said. "He was starting to come on really well and getting his match fitness up.

"He's a bit down in the dumps but he's a strong kid and he's back at a great club who will look after him. He's in the right place."
