BOLEHALL Swifts face a potential day of destiny in the Midland Combination title race on Saturday.

The out-of-form league leaders face second-place Southam United at Rene Road (kick-off 3pm) with manager Daren Fulford urging his side to go "hammer and tongs" for the win.

"This is it, this is massive for us now," he told Herald Sport.

"We are going through a testing time results-wise and confidence is sapped but Saturday is a chance for us to start to put things right on the results front.

"This is our cup final. We need to go out in a positive frame of mind and fight, hammer and tongs, for the three points.

"We will have to be bang at it because Southam are strong.

"But I know what we are capable of on our day and I still believe that we can win this league.

"The players have got to go out and give everything. There can be no regrets from anyone come 5pm on Saturday night."

Bolehall will go into the game as underdogs after suffering back-to-back defeats to Earlswood and bottom club Walsall Wood.

Southam are now just a point behind them with three games in hand.

But Fulford insisted: "We won't be throwing in the towel, that's for sure.

"There's a lack of confidence among the players at the moment. I don't know why that is.

"But it's up to me to help them get that belief back.

" We need to make sure they rediscover their inner resolve and get back to doing what they were doing so well at the start of the season.

"At the end of the day, the title is still in our own hands.

"We are top of the table and in the semi-final of a cup so the lads must start to believe in themselves again.

"They have to remember we have come a long way in the last two seasons, from 19th in the table to challenging for the title.

"We have had a few slip-ups of late but people shouldn't be despondent.

"We have all got to stay united and positive and, if we do that, we can still enjoy a memorable end to the campaign.

"I have complete faith in my lads here.

"As they say, beware a wounded animal."

Saturday's game will be at the mercy of the weather with more wintry weather predicted.

But should the game get the go-ahead, Fulford could welcome back former Lambs star Dave Haywood and Will Holyland from injury.

Clint McQuade could also return to the fold after rejoining Swifts.
