TAMWORTH ABC sent a team of four boxers to Scotland last weekend.

Keiran Marshall, Jacob Derby, Josh O'Donnell and Ryan Hatton all boxed at a show in Withorn, Galloway.

Current junior ABA British champion Hatton dominated his bout throughout the three rounds, clinching a deserved victory over C McDonald.

Marshall claimed victory over G Beggs.

He started strongly and upped his game in the second round, overpowering and his opponent to force the referee to step in.

Derby started off at a good pace before losing his bout to M Jameson.

O'Donnell demonstrated good skill levels against a more experienced boxer in his contest. He was the stronger of the two and constantly kept his Scottish opponent, G Service, on his toes but was pipped on countback after the bout had ended level on points.

Hatton is being supported by Tamworth council this year through their Gifted and Talented Support Fund.

The club has received £800 toward Hatton's development, assisting him in travelling to competition in Britain and Europe.

Boxing coach Lee O'Donnell said of the club's trip to Scotland: "We're very proud of all the performances in Scotland and the experience gained by the boxers at this level will pay off in future bouts.

"All our boxers showed great respect to their opponents and are a credit to Tamworth."

Reece Davis, Harry Lindley, Cory Gelks and Dan de Moll also had a busy week of action in bouts.

Davis boxed well before losing a bout in Coventry while Lindley and De Moll fought in Wales.

Lindley claimed a victory but De Moll lost out in a tight one.

Tamworth ABC'S next show is on March 2 at Dostill Cosmopolitan Club.
