PREPARATIONS are under way for the popular annual Poppy Fields Ball, and organisers are appealing for prize donations from local businesses.

The event, which takes place at Drayton Manor on March 31, raises money for the charity which supports Birmingham Children's Hospital and collects much-needed cash for cancer research.

Organised by the parents of Poppy Guilder, the event is now in its seventh year and will this year follow an Olympic theme. Last year's ball raised more than £7,000.

Companies who wish to support the charity can donate prizes for the raffle by contacting Lisa Guilder on lisa.guilder@homecall.co.uk.
