A ONCE popular and thriving Tamworth pub re-opened reopening under new management in time for the Jubilee weekend.

Martin Young is hoping to turn around the fortunes of the Sandyback pub in Wilnecote after stepping behind the bar from last Friday (June 1).

The pub, in Overwoods Road, has been closed since before Christmas but Martin – who also recently took on the Three Tuns in Fazeley – has big plans to change all that.

"The Tuns is doing well and I have been asked by my area manager to reopen the Sandyback as well. The pub has struggled for a while but I am really hoping that by showing the Euro championships and the Olympics, I can get off to a flying start and maybe make a go of it," he said.
