Don't tar us all with same brush
ON READING the letter from David Nicholson from Northumberland, I am aghast as to the aspersion he has cast on all us tradesmen. I run a Tamworth-based electrical company and have for five years now, growing year on year. This has been done by word of mouth, as a contractor who will turn up when he says he will and giving good customer service.
Here is an example of good customer service; on Saturday, June 13, I was having a rare day off and went to the gym at 9am.
On returning I had a missed call on my mobile.
A fellow electrical contractor had called me to ask if I could do an emergency call-out to a lady near Clifton Campville, as she had no power and was frantic as she was doing a dinner for guests that night. I called the lady at 10.35am and offered to go out straight away.
I arrived at her house at 10.55am. The fault was found within five minutes. I then made sure that all the power was back on and would not trip out again. Job done, I left by 11.05am.
Oh, the cost of a weekend call-out and the work carried out? FREE of charge!
I called the lady back at 4pm just to check that the power had not gone off again. This is not the first time I have done this for customers at no cost to them, so maybe David is ringing the wrong contractors.
