MOTORISTS using the M6 Toll road face daytime price rises, but a decrease in night rates for larger vehicles next month.

Car drivers will pay £5.50 from 6am until 11pm on weekdays, an increase of 20p, when using the main toll plaza.

Cars with trailers, along with vans and HGVs, face a 40p rise to £10, and £11 for the latter two categories, for the "peak" daytime period.

Night time rates fall by £1 for cars with trailers using the main plaza, £2 for such vehicles using ramp exits in the day and at the weekend, and by £3 when they use ramp exits at night.

Reductions of £1 for van and lorry drivers using the intermediate "ramp" exits at the weekend and at night were also announced.

The price changes are due to begin taking effect from 6am on Thursday, March 1.
