Farmers voice concerns over impact of HS2 at meeting
CONCERNS over the impact of HS2 on farms across the region prompted more than 60 farmers to attend a meeting organised by the National Farmers Union.
All of the landowners in attendance at the meeting in Stoneleigh were keen to know what the impact of the 250mph rail line would be and what compensation packages would be available.
Government approval for phase one of the £32billion scheme, which will see a high-speed line running between London and Birmingham, was given last month.
Meanwhile, protest groups against the HS2 project have sent the Government a formal letter warning that they will take legal action unless it is stopped.
The HS2 Action Alliance said in the letter to Transport Secretary Justine Greening that it would consider seeking a judicial review over concerns about the environmental impact of the project.
