COTON Green chairman Andy McMenemy believes the New Mill Lane-based club is ready to kick on in all aspects as it prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

McMenemy believes that the first team is in good hands in recently-appointed manager Jamie Dix.

With John Downing also providing invaluable support in the reserves and the club's Birmingham AFA senior side also settled, the club is now working hard to add to its hugely successful junior set-up.

McMenemy said: "In terms of the first team, things are going well now and we want to progress over the next couple of seasons.

"We have not been without our challenges, with managers departing, but in Jamie Dix I think we have a great guy in charge now who will give 100 per cent.

"He is building a strong relationship with the reserves and I think that is very important.

"I have no doubt that Jamie, John and the coaching staff will move the Midland Combination side forward.

"What we also need to do is to continue developing the juniors here."

The club's junior set up includes popular mini-kickers sessions for children aged 3-7 on a Sunday and the club plans to add new teams to its other age groups.

"The mini-kickers side of things has been very successful since we got it up and running," added McMenemy.

"The junior side is something that is very important to us as a football club.

"We have great facilities here and I think the important factor with regards to Coton Green is that kids coming through have a chance to progress nicely.

"They move up the various age groups and, long term, there's the chance to move into the youth and open age, or Birmingham AFA or Midland Combination teams.

"Jamie has a good relationship with all the junior age group managers and is interested in seeing what's going on.

"The junior side is an area we want to keep developing from mini-kickers upwards.

"We are strong in some age groups and short in numbers in others but we are progressing all the time and that's something we want to continue to do."
