THE game at the weekend was one of the coldest fixtures I have ever been involved in.

Looking back at the weekend's weather and the journey back, it was a near miracle that the game wasn't called off beforehand.

The journey back took over four hours on motorways covered in six inches of snow, with other vehicles sliding out of control and drivers abandoning their vehicles.

It is testament to Andy from Solus coaches that we actually got back at all!

Fleetwood were desperate to get the game on and capitalise on other fixtures in the league being off and potentially extend their lead at the top of the league.

It was important for us to use this as a major catalyst for our performance and to capitalise on any possible complacency.

Unfortunately, we were the ones who were caught cold at the beginning of the match and found ourselves behind within the first two minutes of the game.

When the hosts then won a penalty five minutes later, I thought 'this could be one of those days'.

Fortunately, that penalty was saved, and we soon settled and started to pose a threat of our own, breaking from our disciplined shape swiftly and full of purpose.

As a result of one of these attacks, we forced a corner which we equalised from. It was a similar counter-attack that released Scotty Barrow into an advanced position from left back and his pot-luck effort fumbled its way across the line.

I wouldn't say to the back of the net because I don't think it reached that far, and Scott received a fair bit of stick for scoring the only 30- yard goal not to hit the back of the net!

This was deserved through effort alone as we continued to defend bravely and wisely to the half time.

The second half of the game was also full of incident and the sending off of Sam Oji for two soft yellows was a real kick in the teeth.

Sam was having a fine game up until he received his marching orders and it was with 20 minutes of the game left that we knew it was going to be a huge task to hold on.

Unfortunately, the lead lasted little after this and parity was restored as Jamie Vardy, friends with keeper Jon Hedge from their Halifax days, fired into the top corner.

From here on in, if any one believes the saying 'you make your own luck', we did.

The defensive efforts and chasing was saved by the post and a series of fine saves by Hedgey to bring home a point.

The start of this week has also been hit by the weather and with the forecast grim for the rest of the week, fixtures are in jeopardy of being disrupted again.

Whichever situation arises we will be prepared and firing and can build on recent results.
