IT'S been another week of frustration with the Gainsborough FA Trophy tie called off twice.

In fairness, it wasn't a shock with the weather that we have had – there's nothing you can do about it.

As I said last week, it's the same for everyone and you just have to get on with it. We are just looking forward to getting a game in now.

When the weather is how it is, you just have to do what you can from a training perspective.

We have trained indoors a bit – including a spinning class at the Snowdome.

We have just really worked on keeping our fitness levels high and our sharpness up.

We trained on the pitch too and hopefully, the weather will improve to allow us to do more technical work and passing drills as the week goes on.

As I say, we are all itching to get a game under our belts and what better game than against Oxford United this weekend.

They are obviously very much in the hunt for the Conference title and it will unquestionably be a tough game for us.

But we are looking forward to it. They are another Conference Premier team who probably consider themselves to be a league club and their fans want to see them back there.

But we are confident we can go there and get a result.

We have shown against Luton, York and Stevenage that we can play well against the top teams.

And we played very well at Kettering a couple of weeks ago.

I thought the signs were good that day and the performance showed that we are getting back to our best.

Nick Wright is back training with us now as well and I haven't spoken to him about his move to Stevenage falling through.

Nick's been fine though. He has great ability and, regardless of the situation, if he is willing to work hard I am sure he will be fine.

I am sure that if Nick works hard he will win his place back and if he is selected I am sure he will do his best for the team. As I say, he has a lot of talent.

Finally, just a quick word about my old West Bromwich Albion team-mate Neil Clement, who was forced to retire last week.

We joined the Albion on the same deadline day, under Gary Megson in 2000.

I haven't spoken to him as yet but obviously feel for him and wish him well.

It's never nice to see someone forced to retire from playing when they are only 31 or 32.

I'm sure he's a bit devastated at the minute but he's a bubbly lad and a great professional.

I think once he sits down and considers his options, he will have a big role to play in football.

Clem is a very intelligent lad and he's the kind of person who will be a success at whatever he does.

Hopefully that will mean he stays involved in football because he has a lot to offer in some capacity.
