Gateshead victory will give us confidence to push on
WINS and draws breed confidence and with that in mind, the lads were all delighted to get three points on the board against Gateshead on Tuesday night.
It's been a tricky couple of weeks but hopefully this win can kickstart another good run for us.
The pleasing thing about the Gateshead game was that, not only did we win it, we produced a good performance to match.
The first 15 minutes were tough but once we had got a foothold in the game, I thought we dominated and were well worth the win.
As a defender, for me it was nice to see us get back to keeping clean sheets.
The defenders had a few discussions in the build-up to the Cambridge game, which was postponed on Saturday.
We wanted to get the defence back to basics and focusing on making sure they were tight as a unit.
I thought they all performed really well on Tuesday night.
At the other end, Alex Rodman looked to be getting back to form after his long injury lay off.
We need players like Rodders firing on all cylinders as we approach the run-in.
Tuesday night's game obviously took on more significance following news that we are likely to lose six points as a result of Chester's expulsion from the Conference.
Chester hasn't been a focal point of our team talks or anything to be honest. It's disappointing but there's nothing you can do about it.
We know what we have got to do as a team between now and the end of the season and that's all that we have got to worry about.
We have enough quality in our squad to make sure that we move up the league again.
We just need to make sure that we match the quality with determination, desire and hunger and if we do that we will be fine.
This weekend, we face another home test against Rushden and Diamonds. They are a good side who play some decent football and they are in form at the moment.
It should be a fascinating clash.
