SANDIACRE TOWN (212-6) beat LULLINGTON PARK (192) by 18 runs

ALAN Gough produced a fine all-round display on the last day of the season but Lullington were beaten.

Gough claimed 3-39 as Park reduced Sandiacre to 212-6 at the close of their innings.

Graham Dent had reduced Sandiacre to 15-2 having James Chapman LBW for five and bowling Derbyshire's Chesney Hughes for nought.

Ex-skipper John Trueman and overseas star Naveed Quereshi carefully set about repairing the damage, adding 79 slowly in the face of good bowling from Dent and George Chapman, whose left-arm spinners brought him at one point five successive maidens.

It was Gough who had Trueman caught and bowled for 46, bowled Rob Atwood for 1 and then caught and bowled David Jordison for 0 as Sandiacre slumped to 116-6 with only 11 overs remaining.

It was John Jordison with 61no and Matt Gouldstone with 38no who re-established control to take the score above 200.

Andrew Goodwin and James Doherty put on 66 for the first wicket in reply.

Jordison then turned the tide for Sandiacre as he claimed four wickets for four runs.

Gough and Paul Dawson added a marvellous 80 for the sixth wicket to have the large contingent of Sandiacre fans biting their nails.

Dawson had made 32 when he nicked the returning Jordison to slip.

Park were eventually bowled out for 192 with Gough out for an excellent 66, which included 10 fours and two sixes

Jordison's 6-29 was an outstanding piece of seam bowling to add to his half century and ensure the man of the match award.

Sandiacre's win wasn't enough to secure the title.

Ockbrook & Borrowash claimed the Premier League title for the fifth time following victory at Chesterfield, pipping runners-up Sandiacre by just four points.
