This is Tamworth

SATURDAY, June 27, was Veterans Day and The Legal Services Commission (LSC) want to ensure people in Tamworth who have served in the armed forces can find expert advice about their rights.

The young men and women serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and other parts of the world are at the front of our minds at this time.

But it is important not to forget veterans of earlier conflicts.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the end of the Berlin Airlift, which the Royal Air Force played a crucial role in.

We produce a leaflet called 'Veterans: Rights for former servicemen and women and their families', which is part of a series of Community Legal Advice publications designed to ensure that people know their rights. It is available online at www.communitylegaladvice.org.uk and includes information like:

What help can I get to find work when I leave the forces?

Does my war pension affect my welfare benefits?

How can I claim my medals from my time in service?

Community Legal Advice is a free and confidential advice service paid for by legal aid. Advice is available from 9am to 6.30pm on Monday to Friday; and 9am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.

We work with skilled and dedicated advice providers to deliver a range of high quality legal services that help people solve their problems, often without going to court.

Brian Farmer, Area Relationship Manager, Legal Services Commission.
