A WILLENHALL husband is tackling ten gruelling runs to provide sufferers of life-threatening conditions with days out to remember.

Garry Hill, aged 36, gave up his job to become a full-time primary carer after his wife Zoe was diagnosed with Wegeners Garnulomatosis disease in June 2006.

The disease is a rare and debilitating condition that affects the vital organs of the body.

Last year, Zoe, Garry and their son Zac were given an all expenses paid trip to London by the Willow Foundation, where they took in a West End show, dined at a top restaurant and stayed in a five-star hotel. The charity, for 16 to 40 year olds, was set up to provide special days out for people suffering with serious diseases.

Garry is now repaying the favour by setting himself the fund-raising challenge of running the '10 for 10', a combination of ten 10km races.

He said: "The trip gave Zoe confidence to leave home with her medication, something that she has never done.

"These trips are special to people suffering with illness, because they can sometimes be the last time they leave the house."

Garry has so far run five races, with the most recent on Tuesday night at Silverstone Race Track.

"It was somewhere nice and flat to run!" he said.

His next race, in Sutton Park, is scheduled for Sunday with a further four races to complete afterwards.

The Willow Foundation is celebrating its tenth year and is making a huge difference to people's lives and inspiring people like Garry to help.

Garry added: "I am inspired by the example set by all the people who benefit from the Willow Foundation and their bravery.

"It is this thought that gets me through the most difficult part of the races."
