AFTER Saturday's fixtures, The Lambs lay two points ahead of their opponents and comfortable in mid-table.

However, the rearranged table on Wednesday morning gave a totally complexion to the league run-in with Tamworth now just five points safe from the relegation zone.

Histon boss Alan Lewer's team selection 'problems', which saw six first team regulars left out due to contract disputes, gave the youngsters who were handed first team run outs a reason to shine.

And, for the opening stages of the first half, Tamworth were second to most things, ultimately paying the price on 11 minutes when Danny Sparkes' low cross from the left wing evaded everyone except Lee Smith, who slotted home at the far post.

A knock to Michael Blackwood brought Michael Briscoe into the action just short of the hour mark.

That, plus the introduction of Jerome Murdock after the break, gave The Lambs a solid, grittier and more attacking feel – as Tamworth created a number of chances.

Seb Lake-Gaskin was denied in the first half, David Knight pulling off a blocking save to deny the nippy winger's drilled left sided low ball on 31 minutes.

Murdock burst through from the centre circle to go one-on-one and round Knight on 54 minutes only to be denied by Erkan Okay's desperate lunge which took the ball over the bar when it should have been buried in the back of the net.

Iyseden Christie had his fair share of half chances as Danny Alcock looked on, a virtual spectator.

However, as the game wore on, injuries plus bookings to four Histon players, cautioned along with Lambs captain Chris Smith inside the final ten minutes, halted the flow of the game.

And so, after five minutes added time, Tamworth were left to once again rue the lack of a killer instinct.

It means they have now scored just twice in five league games, something they need to address.
