Joining forces for safer streets
WEST Midlands Police and Neighbourhood Watch will join forces with a supermarket in Great Barr today (Friday) to promote their latest campaign tackling anti-social behaviour.
Officers will be at the Asda store, on Old Horns Crescent, between 10am-3pm to offer advice as part of 'not in my neighbourhood week' (NIMNW).
The event will bring to a close a week-long programme of events that are being run by police as part of the Home Office-led campaign.
PC Gary Hall said: "West Midlands Police are continually working alongside our diverse communities along with our community partners.
"NIMNW is an important event where our diverse communities come together for a common purpose of cracking down crime, the causes of crime and promoting crime prevention.
"We and all our community partners are passionate about community engagement and making our neighbourhoods a safer place to live and work."
Members of the public can go along to tomorrow's 'meet and greet' session to talk to local beat bobbies, and a representative from MP for Walsall South Bruce George's office, about how safe they feel in their neighbourhood.
They will also get to learn about some of the work that is being carried out across the force to help tackle the issue.
Peter Roberts, chair of the West Midlands Neighbourhood Watch County Association, said: "NHW members and coordinators show a great interest in NIMN week.
"It's time when all our NHW teams work together on all sorts of community projects all over the West Midlands."
