KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS 2 TAMWORTH 2

DAVE CLAYTON

KYLE Perry bagged a brace as Tamworth clinched a draw at Aggborough on Monday, but the Lambs were left frustrated by a late leveller.

A point should really have been three as the home side played the last 15 minutes of the game a goal down and with 10 men after Mark Albrighton had received his marching orders with a hotly-disputed second booking.

But a last-gasp equaliser from Jack Byrne rescued a point for Harriers.

The game started fairly evenly but Alex Rodman soon started making in-roads through the home defence and forced Danny Lewis to tip an early effort over his bar and save a later shot at the second attempt.

But it wasn't all Tamworth as Lee Morris tried to latch on to the bouncing ball on 27 minutes, but Ross Atkins juggled it out of the area before clearing the danger, with the home faithful shouting eagerly for a penalty.

Atkins was called upon shortly afterwards to deny Marc Williams' downward header.

Despite the predictable good-humoured boos by the Lambs fans aimed at Nick Wright, he enjoyed a fairly good game against his old club.

It was his new captain Keith Briggs who opened the scoring on 43 minutes, rifling home from the edge of the box into the left-hand corner past Atkins' despairing dive.

The Lambs were back on level terms within 90 seconds thanks to Perry's glancing header from a Danny Thomas ball.

Perry made a nuisance of himself in and around the area after the break but was penalised for a needless challenge on Chris McPhee on the hour.

However, on 72 minutes the assistant referee on the other side of the pitch flagged for a foul by Albrighton on Perry and the only outcome was a second yellow, the home player having been penalised in the first half.

Tamworth looked to press home their advantage and, from a half-cleared corner, Perry made it 2-1, punishing Kidderminster for not clearing their lines by lifting the ball in from 18 yards.

That should really have been that, but Harriers rallied.

Wright missed a sitter on 82 minutes before being replaced and when Richard Tait gave away a free-kick just outside the area, Kidderminster capitalised with Bryne heading home at the far post to give his side a share of the spoils.

Tamworth: Atkins, Tait (Lyttle 90), Marshall, Wylde, Smith, Perry, Rodman, Thomas (Sheridan 71), Bradley (MacKenzie 70), Barrow, Wilkinson. Subs not used: Mitchell, Lake-Gaskin.

Attendance: 1, 271.

Herald Star Man: Kyle Perry
