A 58-YEAR-OLD Tamworth man is critically ill in hospital after his car went off the road, rolled over and landed on its roof.

The accident happened at 9.50am on Monday March 8 in Coleshill Road, Drayton Bassett near Drayton Manor, and involved a silver Vauxhall Vectra which was heading towards Fazeley.

Police say the car left the road via the offside and rolled over, landing on its roof in a field and trapping the man inside.

Four fire appliances attended and firefighters had to cut the injured man free from the wreckage of the vehicle.

He suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Good Hope hospital.

His condition is said to be 'critical, but stable'.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
