Manager rues injury disruption as Villa crash out at the opening stage
PELSALL VILLA 0 DOSTHILL COLTS 2
PELSALL Villa's run in this year's FA Cup ended abruptly when they fell at the first hurdle on Saturday.
A goal in each half gave Dosthill a victory that gives them the chance to visit Stourport in the next round.
Pelsall boss Mark Bentley was left to rue injuries, adding: "We were forced to make three changes due to injury before half-time.
"Naturally this disrupted us and it took a while for us to settle down again.
"We created a few chances in the second half but failed to capitalise upon them and ended up paying the price."
Colts' first real attack came on 12 minutes, Solomon Griffiths racing onto a ball wide on the right. His ball inside found Anthony Fallon, who fire high over.
On 25 minutes a neatly worked right-wing corner from Colts was played to Griffiths but his cross was headed inches wide by Mark Adey.
Minutes later the pressure finally paid off when Lewis Gorle raced clear on the Colts right. His low cross was cleverly stepped over by Fallon and Roy Dunkley hammered home.
Villa had a chance to level on half-time but Keith Russell pushed his shot wide on the stretch.
Dosthill almost doubled their advantage moments before the whistle when Adam Jenkins saved from a point-blank Dunkley shot.
Soon after the break Dosthill did get their second when Griffiths slammed home a rebound after Jenkins had again denied Dunkley.
Villa tried to fight back but the closest they came was through a Dosthill error, Daniel Pollitt almost slicing a corner into his own net.
Pelsall – who host Racing Club Warwick this Saturday – suffered more misery on Tuesday night, falling to a 1-0 Midland Combination Premier defeat at home to Bolehall Swifts.
