Mills optimistic but refusing to set targets
GARY Mills believes his side can continue to make a mark on the Conference Premier this season – but is refusing to set targets.
The Lambs produced a stunning win over Luton on Saturday and followed it up with a 2-2 draw at Kidderminster.
That has put them tenth in the table – just four points off leaders Mansfield – in the embryonic stages of the season.
But Mills said: "There have never been any promises from me.
"I just want to keep improving this set of lads as players and I want to keep us moving as a Football Club.
"We have to be realistic but if I can keep everyone fit and the squad together then, of course, we can win football matches.
"The danger last year was that we picked up injuries and that affected our whole season, to be fair.
"I feel we could have gone on and finished higher with a bigger squad.
"But with everyone fit, we can take on your Lutons and all these teams – there's no reason we can't.
"The main thing is that we enjoy the season.
"If you don't enjoy moments like beating Luton, there's something wrong.
"We have got to carry on doing things with a smile.
"I want the players to enjoy their football and I think they are and, along with that, you have to work hard."
