LICHFIELD CC FIRST XI (355-6) drew with COLESHILL (122-2)

COLESHILL were able to escape with a share of the spoils against Lichfield on the final day of the season.

Having been put in to bat, Lichfield declared on 355-6 after 53 overs, giving them maximum batting bonus points before the game was eventually abandoned after 22 overs of Coleshill's reply when a torrential downpour soaked the pitch.

Opener Dean Price was in fine form for Lichfield, hitting an array of boundaries on his way to a quick-fire 50, including a huge six which smashed a spectator's windscreen.

Three quick wickets meant the game was very much in the balance at 80-3 but a huge partnership between Adam Braddock (77) and Jon Bassett-Graham (132) put the home side in complete control.

The partnership was worth 202 for the city side before both were caught in the deep but quickfire knocks from Tom Stone (24) and Tim Filer (28 off 11 balls) saw Lichfield to their highest score on the Collins Hill ground.

Phil Trilloe (3-100) was the main wicket-taker while Kevin Crotty, Lee Bird and Spencer Pollock bagged one each.

A heavy shower brought the players off and Lichfield declared early so no further overs were lost, meaning Coleshill were set 301 off 46 overs for a winning draw.

Openers Pete Magafas (27) and Jason Jordan (42) raced to 47 off just four overs before they fell to James Wilkinson and Tom Stone respectively.

But any hopes of a decisive outcome were dashed by a tropical storm that saw the game abandoned.

At that point, Coleshill were 122-2 with David Brown on 30 and Trilloe unbeaten on 18.

Coleshill CC Second XI lost to Ombersley by nine wickets in Division 2A South.

Coleshill were bowled out for 110 with David Pudge (58) top scoring.

Dominic D'Oliveira (53) and Rob Lightfoot (47no) guided Ombersley to an easy win.

WATER ORTON CC FIRST XI (265-8) beat BRIDGNORTH CC (124) by 141 runs

ASIF Ali starred with the bat and ball as Water Orton ended their Division Two campaign with a victory.

He rescued them from a poor start with the bat, the side having been reduced to 31-3.

Ali (71) and Gary Crouch (54) then put on 100 for the fourth wicket.

Further contributions from Warren Badger (57) and Ed Harris (29) pushed the score on to 265-8 at the close.

Bridgnorth's reply got off to a poor start as they slumped to 15-2.

They never really recovered despite the best efforts of Jonathan Whitney (40) and Mark MacPherson-Lees (21).

Ali claimed 3-19 while Lesroy Irish was in good form with the ball taking 4-27.

Michael Bevan (2-26) and Harris (1-26) also claimed wickets as Bridgnorth were bowled out for 124.
