Polesworth keep up pressure on leaders with solid win

POLESWORTH United came out on top in their clash against an ever improving Tweedale.

They won 2-0 thanks to goals from Jones and Coleman – to stay hot on the heels of the league leaders.

Also in the top division, Glascote Swifts recorded back-to-back wins with a fine 6-1 victory against Warton WMC.

In the Divisional Cup, Tamworth White Lion dominated their game with Wood End Sports, winning 6-0 thanks to goals from Fellowell, Taylor (2), Yonwin (2) and Glasgow.

In Division One league action, Fazeley Three Horse shoes lost 5-1 to Wilnecote WMC, while Dosthill Cosmos lost 4-2 to FC Vaults.

Tamworth Castle, who are increasingly becoming the whipping boys of the division, shipped another six goals as they crashed to a 6-1 defeat against AFC Riftswood.

In the Divisional Cup, Birchmoor United and DC United fought out a 1-1 draw, after extra time, with DC holding their nerve to win a penalty shootout.

In Division Two, Coton Arms lost 3-1 to Belgrave S and S, while Measham United hammered Two Gates United 11-1.

In Division Three, Hockley Prince beat Newton Thistle 3-2 thanks to goals from Kelt and a Johnson double.

Wood End WMC lost 3-2 to Edingale Swifts whose goals were scored by Cooke and Stewart-Jones (2).

In the Divisional Cup, Mile Oak were humbled 6-0 by Winning Post with goals from Northall (3), Shutt (2) and Baker.

Bristan met top of the table Glascote Social in a game which ended 1-1 after extra time.

Glascote Social successfully converted all five of their spot kicks in the penalty shoot out to progress into the next round.

In Division Four, Cuckoo's Rest continued their revival with a third straight win, securing a 4-3 victory against New Three Tuns. Undefeated Royal Oak Polesworth beat Yates 2-1.

Yates took the lead when Field converted but Oak later equalised with a hotly disputed own goal before Scaysbrook sealed the win.

In the Divisional Cup, table toppers Wilnecote Red Lion lost 3-2 to bottom club Sessions despite goals from Cox and Millard.

Hurley United, who are second in the league lost 2-1 to AFC Dolphin while Drayton Manor Youth beat Glascote Swifts Rangers 4-2 in an ill tempered game.

In Division Five, Midland Unity lost 3-1 to Casa, with goals scored by from North, Shimfield and Shannon.

Second placed Larzbar beat Netherseal Saints 4-3 in the other league game played in Division Five.

In the Division Five Cup, Ankerside Rangers beat Birchmoor United Reserves 5-4, Albrighton scoring a hat-trick for the losing side.

Alvecote Marina went out of the cup at the first hurdle as they lost 2-1 to Cottage Farm Rangers, while Tamworth Castle Reserves progressed with a 5-0 win over Fazeley Victoria.
