WELL that was a great start to 2010!

Saturday's win at Oxford was a well deserved result for the lads.

It's been a tricky few weeks with the weather and everyone was keen to play again.

We knew that we would be in for a tough afternoon because the Kassam Stadium had not been a happy hunting ground for teams so far this season.

But we went there and worked hard both on and off the ball and we got the result we deserved against a side who will certainly be in the top two or three at the end of the season.

I thought we dominated the first half in truth, after they had a couple of early chances.

We were always going to come under the cosh a bit in the second half but I thought we defended superbly and Cocky (Danny Alcock) pulled off some cracking saves late on.

I think the pleasing thing in recent weeks is that regardless of who has played in the back four or five, they have done a good job.

As I say, it was just a great start to the year for us.

We have already shown this season that we can match the big clubs and to be honest we have never stopped believing in ourselves.

We hit the buffers a bit a while back and lost a few games on the trot but we were down to the bare bones in terms of numbers.

Any team with the injuries and suspensions we had would have struggled but we knew once we had players back we would start to turn things around again and I feel we are now.

Tuesday night saw us travel to Gainsborough in the FA Trophy and return with a 0-0 draw.

It wasn't a good game to be fair.

We were solid enough but not quite on our game – nowhere near as solid as we had been three days before.

Maybe that was down to feeling a bit leggy, I'm not sure, but it was a tough place for us to have to go and the main thing is we got a result and can bring them back to the Lamb.

Chamberlin (Fankem) made his debut in goal on Tuesday and I thought his all-round game was good. He didn't have to make any saves but did what he had to do well and at least the gaffer (Gary Mills) knows he can rely on him if Cocky is injured.

Now we are preparing for back-to-back home games and if we can beat Eastbourne on Saturday and then win our replay on Tuesday night, we will be looking very good.

We need to keep the momentum going now.
