THERE is still plenty of time to get your entries in for Tamworth's 2010 Musical Theatre Vocal Competition.

If you fancy yourself as the next Katherine Jenkins, Elaine Page or John Barrowman, organisers say that the vocal competition is the best place to start on the road to success.

And with a £1,000 first prize up for grabs, the competition is not to be missed.

Organised by the Tamworth Arts Club, the talent competition is taking place at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms.

Held every other year, it is open to budding singers from across the West Midlands, aged between 15 and 25.

Organiser Anne Goodwin is encouraging as many people as possible to take part.

She said: "We know there is a wealth of talented young singers out there.

"This view has been substantiated from competition to competition. This is your chance to get noticed.

"It is a great competition to take part in and would be a great place for anyone to start their career."

The competition will take place between July 1 and 4 and includes knockout phases and a grand final.

There is a £10 entry fee and the number of entrants is limited.

Applicants are urged to get their entry form, complete it and send it off as soon as possible – entries must be received by April 30.

Competitors must be prepared to sing two songs from musicals or operas. An accompanist will be provided.

Application forms are available on receipt of a stamped addressed envelope from: Anne Goodwin, 6 Albion Street, Tamworth, Staffs, B79 7JP. For more information, call Anne on 01827 67297 or go online and visit
