For all those inspired by the Military Wives choir, or fans of Glee, a new community choir is being launched in Tamworth this week.

The Tamworth Voices Choir Group is being formed to put on a performance at Tamworth Assembly Rooms on Tuesday April 24 and is looking for men and women to join.

Evening classes start on Tuesday, January 24, (tomorrow)  and then run every Tuesday until April 17, some nights at Tamworth Assembly Rooms and some at the Town Hall.

The workshops, which cost £4 per session, will be led by established singer, musician and teacher Gladstone Wilson. Tamworth Voices will put a contemporary twist on the traditional choir and will cover a wide range of musical styles.

The Tamworth Voices Choir Group is open to anyone aged 17 or over. No experience is needed – just lots of enthusiasm and a love of singing.

A Tamworth Voices taster session held in December proved to be a great success, attracting more than 30 people. Organisers are now particularly appealing to men to take up the singing challenge, as more male voices are needed in the choir.

So if you've been inspired by Gareth Malone and the Military Wives Choir and would like have a go yourself with the Tamworth Voices Choir Group, contact the box office on 01827 709618 or 01827 709581.

We can't guarantee a Number 1 smash hit, but there will definitely be lots of fun and enjoyment.

“I tried this choir out....and.....I'm hooked.
Gladstone (G) is an enthusiastic motivator and musician who inspires higher quality performances than I initially thought we would be getting by now.
This is a great choir with lots of potential and top fun to boot.
If you like to sing and meet new people then do come along and try it :)
Especially if your male....(we really need a few more males).”
