WEDNESBURY CC (130) lost to TAMWORTH CC FIRST XI (134-2) by eight wickets
TAMWORTH ended their season with a dominant victory on Saturday to finish third and just out of the promotion places.
Skipper Mike Talbot led from the front with a fine all-round performance. He took 4-36 as Wednesbury were reduced to 130 all out from their 50 overs.
Todd Hewitt (3-10) and James Gray (3-35) were the other wicket-takers.
Wednesbury had Pindy Matharu (32) and Dinesh Jayamuni (34) to thank for reaching three figures as the pair put on 50 for the fourth wicket.
Talbot then led by example with the bat as Tamworth chased down their target in less than 21 overs.
After losing Neil Orton (8) to the bowling of Dinesh Jayamuni, Talbot (46) and Jake Flower (31no) pushed the score on. Talbot fell with the score on 55, caught and bowled by Jayamuni.
Flower was then joined by Stuart Burrows, who ended an impressive personal season with an unbeaten 43 off 32 balls.
Tamworth CC Second XI ended their season with a five wicket victory over Himley in Birmingham League 1A.
Himley batted first and declared their innings on 253-4 with Jamie Harris (93) and Bilaal Hussain (59) top scoring.
Rob Nield (2-67), Tom Philpott (1-36) and Garry Taylor (1-33) claimed the wickets to fall.
Tamworth's response got off to a poor start as they slipped to 32-2 after losing Matthew Whitehead (0) and Chris Kinson (11).
Jack Gedge followed for 18 but Nield (80) and Joe McNulty (71) provided the platform for Tamworth's win.
When both departed, Tamworth were well set on 220-5 and Ryan Verity (31no) and Philpott (23no) guided their side home.
Jamie Lunn was the pick of the Himley bowlers with stats of 2-53.
