LIVING in the hometown of this summer's biggest open-air charity show is set to benefit Tamworth people.

Organisers of the star-studded Midlands Music Festival have slashed the cost of single tickets by almost a third for a limited time only, to ensure Tammies are part of the action.

"Every step of the way we've said that we want Tamworth to be a huge part of the festival," explained co-organiser Jem Sanders.

"Key to that is having local people there on the day.

"The festival is right on their doorstep and now, with reduced price tickets for those living in Tamworth, there is no reason for them not to come."

Anyone who buys a ticket for the August 8 event from Tamworth Information Centre and who can give proof of their address, will see the cost cut from £45 to £32.

But the offer is only available until July 14, so music fans are being urged to take advantage of it while they can and be one of the lucky 14,000 festival-goers.

The announcement comes a week after the Herald revealed that Sugababes have been added to the festival line-up.

The pop trio will perform alongside headliners Blue, Lemar, Liz McClarnon and X Factor favourites JLS, when they appear in Tamworth Castle Pleasure Grounds next month.

The event, which has been organised by premature baby charity Just 1 Life, will be split into two parts; a family fun day with live entertainment from 10.30am to 5.30pm, featuring Right Said Fred and Chico, and an evening show with performances from some of the country's most successful acts.

All proceeds from the event will support the work of Just 1 Life, which is dedicated to raising funds for neo-natal units across the country and helping to set up support groups for the parents of premature babies.

The money will also be used to organise the 2010 Midlands Music Festival.
