This is Tamworth

IT has been called the finest hoard of Mercian gold ever uncovered – and if YOU want to see it displayed in the heart of ancient Mercia, now is the time to make your voice heard.

The Herald, in partnership with Tamworth Borough Council, has started a campaign to take the wishes of the people of Tamworth over the future of the Mercian hoard, to the highest level of British Government.

This is your chance to add your names to a petition that will be presented to Number 10 Downing Street, to show your determination that Tamworth is not forgotten or overlooked in the quest to display the gold that is arguably the town's birthright.

As the seat of the Kings of Mercia, Tamworth is inextricably linked with the hoard – which is of such superb quality that experts have indicated it was probably owned by royalty and will redefine the 'Dark Ages'.

If you believe that Tamworth should fight for the right to have its history and heritage recognised throughout the world, signing our petition will ensure your wishes are considered.

MP for Tamworth, Brian Jenkins, has agreed this week to support the campaign and take the petition to the Prime Minister.

The more people who take the time to sign the petition, the bigger and stronger Tamworth's voice will be.

So we urge you to stand up and be counted today, and help to preserve Tamworth's heritage for the sake of its future.
