IT was great to bounce back with a win at Brigg on Saturday – especially after the hard-to-take loss to Rushall the week before.

Brigg are a big physical side and we had to stand up to them and show we could fight – but we played some nice football too.

The goal was an example of that – I slipped Birchy in and it was a great finish from him.

We could have won more comfortably, while at the other end it was good to keep a clean sheet and we looked really solid at the back.

It really geed us up after the loss to Rushall, which hurt us because of the manner of the defeat, losing in the last minute.

In hindsight, a point there would have meant we would be top of the table now but you can't dwell on these things.

You don't want to look back at dropped points too much and anyway, the other sides at the top could probably say the same thing, that they have dropped a few they should have taken, too.

This weekend heralds the start of the busy festive period and first up are Market Drayton who had a great start to the season but have slipped since they lost their manager and a few players left too.

That's followed by Belper at home on Boxing Day and six points from those two games would send us into 2010 in a good position before the New Year's Day game at Rushall.

But we are just thinking about Market Drayton at the moment – and, remember, they beat us earlier in the season at their place.

They had won the Midland Alliance by a mile last season so we knew they would be strong but the game was another one you look back on and think we should have won as we dominated it.

I don't know whether Duncan Horler will agree with me as he was playing for Drayton at the time but it was a lucky goal that won it too.

His free-kick took a massive deflection off Dave Egan's head and gave Ryan Price no chance.

I know it was lucky because since he's been back here he's taken five or six free-kicks and the ball has ended up on the A5.
