Whitt men crush poor Aston
Wheaton Aston 0
Whittington RFC First XV 37
WHITTINGTON maintained their promotion hopes in the Midlands Five North (West) with an incredibly one-sided victory over Wheaton Aston.
Whittington showed their intentions in the first minute when they scored with their first play.
From the kick-off claim by Andy Heron to the cool finish in the corner by Steve Brown, the well-worked try involved the majority of the side and made the home side look like they were chasing shadows.
Whittington were unfortunate to lose tight head prop Martin Hughes after seven minutes through injury.
Robert Allcott replaced him and within five minutes he had latched on to a pass from Ian Carr to drive over for a try. Nigel Brookes converted.
The visitors struck again and hooker Lee Higgs popped up between the centres to score an excellent try which Brookes again converted.
Whittington's next try saw Pete Hughes jink through the home side's defence after good work from the back line.
The final try of the half was for Mark Boswell, who latched on to a pass from Ian Carr before scoring with a drive over the line.
The half-time message from Wheaton Aston was damage limitation and they managed to disrupt Whittington's flow more after the break.
Whittington did still managed to add to their tally with Ben Hemmings latching on to a pass to score a great try.
