HOPEFULLY the bad weather is behind us now ... with not having a game for the last month, there hasn't been much to write about.

We managed to get a competitive 90 minutes under our belts in a friendly at Pelsall – it seems so long since we've been involved in a game!

We played well – even though Pelsall are two divisions below and we should beat them nine times out of 10 – and it was good to get a game in before this Saturday's trip to Witton.

They came to Church Street earlier in the season and you could see the size and stature of the club by the fact they outnumbered our fans – and we get a great crowd.

It was on a Tuesday night so for them to get so many coming down in midweek just shows you – and personally I think they were the best side we've played.

We were a bit fortunate to win that night – they are a good passing side who play the right way.

We couldn't ask for a tougher game to get back into the swing of things.

Personally it's been a tough time for me recently as my mother has been in hospital and you look at football as a bit of release – 90 minutes when you can forget about your problems.

But because we haven't had any games, there hasn't been that release – plus not knowing whether you're going to be playing each weekend is frustrating too.

We've done some training at Wolves's indoor facility on the 3G synthetic pitch, though, playing full 11-a-side games so fitness should not be an issue for us.

And that has probably helped some of the newer lads.

We might not have had any games but that has probably given them the chance to bed in with the squad and get familiar with everything.
