Old and new are lining up for feast of musical talent
Friday, February 12 sees the best of Tamworth's old and new talent take to the stage in what is being billed as the first of many gigs to come for 2010.
Opening the show are newbies Ennui, an acoustic duo made up from two of the town's finest bands, At The Zoo and Pressure Kids. Following them will be Driven Like The Snow, fronted by local legend Colin Brown. And he's promising at least two new songs.
Carrying on the night and taking it in a slightly different direction will be Structures.
Having been absent from the Corporation Street venue since Structures Presents back in September 2009, the band are eager to get back on stage and remind audiences why they are regarded as one of the area's most promising acts.
Finishing off the night will be one of the best bands to emerge from the local music scene last year, Pressure Kids. Making their debut at the 2009 Battle Of The Bands, they raised a few eyebrows and have turned a lot more heads with recent gigs. This being their first headline performance at the Assems, it's sure to attract a lot of interest.
"We hope this will get the local scene off to a great start this year and set everything up nicely for a great Battle Of The Bands in the summer," explained Assems front of house manager Jock Ross.
"We know there are a lot of bands out there who need a stage to perform and things like Battle Of The Bands and these local nights give them that chance."
A date has also been set for this year's Battle Of The Bands 'sign up night', which has been pencilled in for April 3.
