I had a feeling we would lose but our keeper was superb
A WEEK in football is a very long time.
After last week's 4-1 beating of Studley, we were brought down to earth with a bang as our visit to Ellesmere ended in a 3-1 defeat.
If it was not for the outstanding form of goalkeeper Paul Hathaway, it would have been many more.
Paul came to the club five games ago from Coleshill Town to fill in for the suspended Courtney Belford.
He is the quiet man of the team who trains very hard and says very little, but when he gets between the posts he becomes a strong and vocal presence with a fantastic will to win.
On Saturday, I had a feeling before the game that players were getting a little complacent with the turnaround of form over previous weeks.
I accept that sometimes young lads will have off days but when your senior players don't perform you have problems.
Defensively we were all over the place in midfield and only George Washburne and Ben Ashby were above average.
We had no cutting edge up front and we became reliant on David Boal to offer us something special.
We are all in this together, so coaching staff and management also need to raise the bar so we can get ourselves further up the Midland Alliance league table.
A lot of people have been very complimentary on how well we have been playing and that is very nice to hear.
But it is now time to push on to another level and fulfil the undoubted potential within this young side.
We made the journey on Saturday without goalkeeping coach Neil Barnes, who we believe was in London auditioning for Britain's Got Talent, singing one of his favourite JLS songs!
Before going to press, it was not known if he had gone through to the next round.
Liam Bailey is finalising the last bits of his forthcoming wedding.
The journey to the wedding venue has been causing problems so the manager has offered the use of his wife Claire's horse, at a nominal fee!
This Saturday, we are at home to Rocester and will be going all out to get back to winning ways which, hopefully we will, with the great support of the Adders fans.
