Tamworth Herald

DID you ever see a fire engine – lights flashing and siren blazing – heading along a Tamworth street and wonder where it was going, and why?

Well, thanks to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, we can now solve the mystery for you.

The fire service has agreed to share its emergency call logs for Tamworth with the readers of the Herald, to show a little of the work the firefighters of the town undertake within the community.

Of course, responding to 999 calls is only one part of the work carried out by Tamworth's brave firefighters.

Much of their time is spent teaching people about fire safety, installing and checking smoke alarms in homes and working in schools to educating young people about the dangers of playing with fire.

But their emergency work remains what they are best known for, and we will be bringing you details of all the 999 calls they respond to every week, to highlight the work of the local crews who work round the clock to keep us all safe.
