The Aldridge move is not a bad idea
As a resident who is very close to the Amington recycling centre, we would welcome the move.
The noise pollution that comes from this facility is deplorable, the skips crash to the floor from 7am throughout the day up until 6pm every day – they are so loud we can hear them over the TV and they shake the floor.
In addition there are many lorries per day to-ing and fro-ing from the facility increasing the already poor air quality in this area.
It cannot be good to house such a facility so close to a residential area.
For the past three years the residents alongside this facility have been campaigning to get rid of this site.
Members have attended council meetings, written letters, placed phone calls direct to Stafford, petitioned to move this site and had visits from various people in (so called) authority.
The council has constantly ignored us and brushed us under the carpet.
I agree with the reader that much of the money is wasted in the area and could be put to better use.
However, if this person had to live in the vicinity of this site then I can only think that they would reconsider their judgement.
It has been hell for some of the residents nearby and still is.
So on behalf of all of us – please move the recycling to Aldridge.
