Time to act on parking is now
Thursday, November 20, 2008, 12:00
Are we waiting for a child to be killed before someone finally sits up and takes action?
I notice on Thursday that the community police were around from 3pm and were advising people not to park on the path by Dosthill fish shop – very useful!
As far as I could tell the police totally ignored the five cars blocking the main road prior to the school entrance.
Does anyone know who owns the road adjacent to the school? Or who is going to take responsibility for it?
I believe it's called 'School Lane' as there are yellow lines along there. Unfortunately there are no signs up so these can't be enforced and they need to be quickly.
As for the parent who parks there and leaves their toddler in the car unstrapped while the parent is nowhere in sight – not only are they blocking the access to the cosmopolitan car park for which many parents have paid to park, but what if the child was to release the handbrake, or someone bump the car?
The whole situation is frustrating – and one day something serious will happen and I pray it's not my child involved.
Annoyed and concerned parent. (Details supplied)
