Tip permit system will allow vans if they are resident's only vehicle

IN RESPONSE to last week's letter headlined 'Why are vans not allowed at the tip?' a Warwickshire County Council spokesperson has issued the following statement:

"The waste centre at Grendon does not currently accept items delivered by van or allow vans on the site.

"However this policy is under review and was due to be discussed at the county council's overview and scrutiny meeting on Thursday, November 13.

"An exception to this policy is our permit system which allows entry for small vans if they are a resident's only vehicle.

"Other waste sites around the county such as Leamington Spa and Rugby do allow vans and will accept electrical goods at no charge.

"Due to the limited size of the centre it is necessary to close the site at points throughout the day to allow for loading and manoeuvring of skips.

"The county council has submitted a planning application to relocate the centre to a larger site at Lower House Farm which will reduce this issue if successful."
