Wiggington Park stream 'plagued with rats'

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 12:00

I FEEL that some of the money allotted to the facelift to Wiggington Park should be used to combat the plague of rats currently residing in and on the banks of the stream running through the park.

This rodent playground poses a health risk. Rats carry up to 70 diseases, including salmonella, cholera, typhus and the potentially fatal Weils disease.

I wonder if the lack of action by the council is to save money by ignoring this problem, and not controlling the rat population by 'baiting the sewers'.

It seems the rat problem has arisen since the work started on the railway lines.
