A TAMWORTH filmmaker is hoping his latest work will be top of the charts – after shooting a music video featuring prolific rapper Wiley.

Adam Awni, aged 25, a former QEMS pupil, was commissioned to make the video for new single Old Skool Daze, by Mighty Moe featuring Wiley.

And he hopes the song will see success after it was officially released this week.

It's only the second ever music video made by Adam, who studied media production at university.

The video has already been viewed more than 16,000 times on internet site YouTube.

Mighty Joe is one of the members of Heartless Crew, and Wiley is often cited as the "King of Grime".

The video also features Tamworth model Gemma Newman.

"We shot the video in several locations in London over two days, and I edited it in Tamworth," Adam told the Herald.

"It is a fun, colourful, tongue-in-cheek video.

"I intended to create a very retro feel to the visuals."

Adam was invited to shoot the video after becoming friends with a producer called Smasher while he was at university.

Following his education, Adam worked as an assistant music editor before going travelling. It was when he returned that he decided to venture into filmmaking.

"I bought my own camera and equipment and editing suite and I started doing test videos of friends," he said.

He went on to direct a corporate video and a promotional video for Screen West Midlands before being asked to do the music video.

It took two weeks of pre-production, two days to shoot and a further two weeks to edit.

"Mighty Moe was very easy to work with," he said.

"I was just doing take after take until I thought I had got everything I needed.

"There was a lot going on. We had to get it done efficiently."

"I worked with some amazingly talented people during production. I filmed dancers, models and members of the general public who spontaneously wanted to be a part of the action."

Now, Adam hopes his work will lead him into directing more music videos – and he said he would like to meet up with more people from Tamworth who wanted to get involved with filmmaking.

He added: "I would like to direct a big budget music video and get a feature film. I'm working very hard to further my career in the film industry. I would certainly like to hear from people in Tamworth who are talented in any element of the filmmaking process, whether in front or behind the camera."
