Coleshill Town hunt for new manager
Thursday, November 20, 2008, 10:50
Adams guided Coleshill to the Midland Combination Premier League title last year having been at the club for less than a season.
He cited family and work commitments as the reason behind his decision to leave, although recent results in the Midland Alliance – Coleshill have picked up four points from six games – also had a bearing.
Adams told Herald Sport : "I just need a break from football.
"I have a lot of commitment both with my work and my family and I need to devote more time to them at the moment.
"Coleshill Town is a very ambitious club and, even with us having just won promotion, they want instant results.
"The club want to keep on moving forward and, at this moment in time, I'm not sure I can help them do that.
"If I cannot give 100 per cent then that's not going to help anyone really.
"I'm not leaving with any bitterness. The club has been brilliant for me.
"I'm proud of what I have achieved in a short space of time and to have a promotion on my CV from my first year in management is not something to be sniffed at.
"I will have special memories to treasure from winning promotion and hopefully the club is stronger for what we have achieved and they can now move on and find someone who can fulfil their ambitions."
Colin Strong and Neil Kitching will take charge of the Colemen for their home game with Bridgnorth Town this weekend.
The club are hoping to persuade Adams' assistant John Scott to remain at the club.
Strong said: "The euphoria of winning promotion is something that everyone connected with the football club will never forget.
"Carl Adams was the man who gave us that promotion and long after people like I have left the football club, he will be remembered.
"Carl will go down in the club's history books as the man who brought what everyone has strived for since the formation of the football club – Midland Alliance football.
"We wish him all the very best and I'm sure that when he decides to return to football he will do a very good job."
