McAughtrie plays through the pain
The Lambs centre half suffered a calf injury in the opening five minutes of the second half of the 3-1 win.
But he battled on and netted the first goal as Tamworth came from a goal down to win in style.
"I jumped for a header and felt the calf pop early in the second half and was limping for most of the time after that," he revealed.
"I think at one point Des Lyttle was going to come on but I decided to carry on for a bit and then got the first goal so it paid off.
"Then we got the second and in the end I think the adrenalin got me through the game.
"The calf is sore now and I haven't trained this week but I'm hoping to be fit for New Year's Day – I don't want to lose my place in the side. I'm looking forward to the match.
"There should be a big crowd hopefully, if the first game is anything to go by.
"I have to say, the support on Boxing Day was probably the best I have witnessed from the supporters here.
"It was a terrific atmosphere and the away fans were really on form.
"They didn't stop singing and their support gets the lads buzzing – it certainly does for me anyway.
"Hopefully there will be a similar size crowd on Thursday. The fans can play a big part for us."
McAughtrie also welcomed the recent signing of goalkeeper Danny Alcock from Stafford Rangers.
He said: "Danny is actually a good mate of mine and was at my stag do and wedding.
"He's a class keeper and, speaking as a defender, having someone like that behind you gives you confidence.
"He has great positional sense and commands the box and sweeps the pieces up.
"He's also sharp off his line and comes and takes crosses with confidence. I think he will be a big signing for us."
