Skipper wishes for FA Cup memories

TAMWORTH skipper Martin Foster (right) is hoping to create some FA Cup memories after admitting he has little to reflect on when it comes to the world famous competition.

The Lambs go in search of a victory over East Thurrock at The Lamb on Saturday and Foster said: "For me personally, I'd love to go on a cup run.

"I haven't really done anything when it comes to this competition.

"You have Gareth Sheldon who played against Man United a couple of times and people like Des Lyttle have gone on good runs.

"But the best I have done was to reach the second round with Forest Green one year (2001).

"We went out to Macclesfield on penalties 11-10 but that's it as far as me and the FA Cup go. I'd like to be able to talk about one or two other special moments."

Foster is wary of the threat that East Thurrock will pose this weekend and knows the Lambs must avoid complacency.

"It's a tricky tie because they will come here to enjoy the occasion and have nothing to lose," Foster added.

"I don't see complacency creeping in though. We know that we have to work hard to keep getting the results that we are getting at the moment.

"I think the Hinckley defeat on Monday night will have a positive effect in some ways as well.

"It wasn't nice to have that taste of losing again and I think it will be the kick up the backside that we need to be honest.

"The good thing is that we are at home on Saturday and that should help us as well.

"It would be nice to have a few more fans there too.

"They have been gradually coming back because we are playing good football and picking up wins.

"If we keep performing the way we are, they'll continue to return I'm sure. It's be nice to think we could go over the 1,000 mark at some stage soon."
