Newark 2
TAMWORTH and Newark fought out a battling 2-2 draw on Saturday.
Tamworth took the lead when Jez Holloway turned his defender with ease and slotted the ball home to score his seventh of the season.
A clever deflection nearly doubled the lead on the next attack but they did make it 2-0 when a clever pass from Holloway found Sperrink who fired past the keeper.
Twenty minutes of madness then let Newark back into the game as they scored two quick goals.
Tamworth had plenty of possession after the break and one attack saw Jay Haywood square the ball to Sperrink who saw his shot magnificently saved by the Newark keeper.
Tamworth also had their defence to thank as they made some last ditch tackles to keep Newark out and keeper Tony Banks saved one with his glove to ensure the home side at least grabbed a point.
Adders Men's First XI 3
Daventry 3
ATHERSTONE threw away a two goal lead as Daventry fought back to gain a point from an ill tempered game.
Justin Hadley's side wanted to give a winning send off to Martin Webb and Michael Pipe as they set off on their travels to Australia.
And it all seemed to be going well when Richard Stubbs crashed in the ball to open the scoring for the Adders midway through the first half.
The Adders doubled their lead early in the second half when Richard Charles-Jones fired the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle.
However, Atherstone then seemed to press the self destruct button as Daventry battled their way back into the game.
First Stubbs was sin-binned for a rash tackle and he was quickly followed by James Meer for a similar offence.
In the meantime, Daventry had wiped out the Adders lead with two textbook short corners.
However, the Adders regained the lead when Webb finished off a well drilled Adders short corner and all three points looked to heading the Adders way with only two minutes left on the clock.
Daventry threw everything at the Adders and the home side were dealt a killer blow with the last move of the game, as the visitors scrambled in the equaliser on the stroke of full time.
