A surge in sun seekers
THE Easter weekend saw a surge in British people interested in buying property in Spain, according to a report from Taylor Wimpey Espana.
There was a 40 per cent jump in the number of appointments to view Spanish homes over the Easter weekend this year compared to last year, with interest particularly strong for property in the Costa del Sol and the Balearics.
Taylor Wimpey Espana reported that 75 per cent of viewers are middle-class executives, between 35 and 50, with a wife and children, who are looking for a holiday home. Typically, these buyers enjoy a long holiday in July or August and the rest at weekends, amounting to an average of between 45 and 60 days a year in Spain.
