THE STAFFORDSHIRE County Show on June 2 and 3, promises to be as successful and enjoyable as last year's show which attracted more than 65,00 visitors.

Two days of entertainment and fun for all the family is guaranteed when the gates and turnstiles open on this the Midlands' premier agricultural show.

Top livestock breeders from around the country will be parading more than 1,000 show animals, including, 400 cattle, 100 pigs, 500 sheep, and 60 goats before judges, in addition to more than 1,500 horses and ponies.

There are no fewer than 10 other shows with in the main show which is being organised by the Staffordshire and Birmingham Agricultural Society on their 110 acre showground at Stafford.

More than 1,200 dog owners are expected to add to the animal magic of a two day show which has something for all the family, whatever their ages.

The main ring events include the daredevil motorcycle stunt team, the Bolddogs Lings Motorcycle Display team, internationally known for their thrilling and spectacular high speed stunts and heart-stopping tricks.

They will be followed by an equally spectacular display by the canine members of the Rockwood Dog Display team, whose 20 dogs will tackle a variety of obstacles. This show is fast paced, entertaining and fun.

In addition there will still be all the traditional attractions in the main ring including the Grand Parade of prize winning livestock on both days, the parade of fox hounds, the high speed inter-hunt relay, the Young Farmers Floats Competition, show jumping and parades of vintage tractors and agricultural machinery.

The Staffordshire County Show provides an ideal day out with something for everyone, with the Woodfest next to the Country Pursuits Arena being an ideal place for a picnic. The Country Pursuits area includes farrier competitions, displays of fly tying and casting, a ferret show, birds of prey and display by the Welsh Axe Men and the Quack Pack show. There is a rabbit, cavy and poultry show, in addition to sheep shearing competitions. and demonstrations.

Showgoers will have a wonderful opportunity to sample some of Staffordshire finest foods in the Food Hall and Cookery Theatre.

Over the years the Food Hall has become a Mecca for foodies and those who like to watch the Heart of England Fine Food chefs prepare and cook meals using local produce from some of the 50 food stands in the Food Hall.

There are craft and shopping malls and the special antique fair, which was so popular last year on its return, that this year more dealers will be featured in a marquee next to the main entrance.
