SARTANS Second XV entertained Old Yardleians on Saturday and claimed a 34-17 win.

After falling 7-0 behind, they responded well with a try for Martin Mahon.

Well-worked tries for Mark Norton and Timmy Tango then gave Spartans a half time lead, with Old Yards adding a penalty to make it 15-10.

Yards responded after the break and moved into a 17-15 lead, but Spartans struck back and Andy Bennett crashed through the defence to score his first try for the club.

Alex Stewart converted for a 22-17 lead.

From the kick off, Spartans pushed back into the opposition half, and Jack Preston crashed through the defence to score. Stewart converted.

The last score came after good work from the forwards allowed Stewart in for a try to make it 34-17.
